FOR BUYERS, I bring a good understanding of what it is moving from the mainland to Hawaii which agents who have lived here a long time may not completely understand. There are more challenges moving to Hawaii than within the mainland. For instance, when I moved here I couldn't get quick and clear answers of why some properties pay around 3x more property taxes than others, why you can’t build a pool on the ocean side of a house, or why you may have to pay an extra 7.25% tax on the total value of the house when you decide to sell it in the future.

I have good knowledge of the Windward side of Oahu, particularly Kailua-Lanikai, including things like beaches, tides, winds, walking/hiking/biking areas, as well as schools, restaurants, shopping, and amenities. Wind, for instance, is an important consideration because many homes do not have air conditioning and a cool breeze can make a world of a difference. While in Oahu I have lived in four different locations and now in Lanikai, next to Kailua.

I bring practical experience in identifying good investment properties, particularly if you are thinking of vacation rentals or relinquishing a 1031 exchange investment property for a personal residence in Hawaii and want to continue differing paying those taxes. Before Hawaii we lived for fifteen years in Sedona, AZ, where I was practicing real estate as a Top 3% Sotheby’s agent.  With my wife Bea, a graduate in residential design, we purchase homes and remodeled them for sale or vacation rental. I’m a US citizen born in Chile, fluent in Spanish. In 2021, I was rated a Top 1% US Hispanic Real Estate agent.
